MANA O KAHIKO Spirit Power of Our Ancestors
Hui E Welina Me Ke Aloha - Welcome
Mana O Kahiko - Spirit Power of the Ancestors -
50 Generations of Traditional Hawaiian Teachings
'Mana O Kahiko' (Spirit Power of the Ancestors) is a school of learning or Halau from Halawa Valley on the island of Molokai. This school is dedicated to preserving and sharing the ancestral teachings from an unbroken lineage of 50 generations.
Ancient traditional Hawaiian knowledge is handed down in an oral fashion through the art of silence, listening, watching and doing. The knowledge of the ancestors is preserved in Hula (Hawaiian dance form), Oli (chants or prayer), Mo’olelo (stories told to share teachings) and it’s Kaona or hidden meaning.
Mana O Kahiko' helps those who are willing to learn, to come to a place called 'Pa'a' - to have a strong, unshakeable foundation through living what the Hawaiians call the spirit of Aloha - the unconditional love between all things in this universe and our connection to everything and everyone.
In workshops and talk story events we share activities that enable participants to experience the teachings and to learn how to release any so called 'baggages' which may clog the connection to the source and all things. We share, discuss and demonstrate the Hula, Oli, Mo'olelo and other traditional healing practices such as the body work - these days called LomiLomi but previously known as HamoHamo, Ho'oponopono (a form of conflict resolution) and La'au Lapa'au (the use of medicinal plants). This enables participants to see how strong their foundation is, where they may have blocks or ‘baggages’, and share various tools which enable them to become 'Pa'a'.
Examples of the teachings shared are:
