One of the age-old Hawaiian healing techniques that has been passed down through the generations is today called lomilomi - or healing touch. Lomilomi entered into the realm of healing by first understanding our spiritual foundation and then applying this knowledge with wisdom, prayer and an unwavering knowing of the existence of a power outside and higher than oneself.
When using healing touch, it asks us to sharpen our intuition. We are utilising each sense to understand the signals we are receiving. Our intuition engages with and reacts to these signals, and the way in which it develops is largely dependent upon the messages that it receives from the source - the higher beings, guardians, ancestors.
If you are looking to develop, hone, sharpen, and make your intuition as strong as it possibly can, then you need to pay attention to what you see. You need to pay attention to what you smell, what you taste, what you hear, what you feel. We are not talking about your emotions, weʻre talking about the sensory nervous system of the largest organ of our entire beings, our skin, the conductors of all of those signals and messages that our senses pick up on get channeled down to our intuition.
It is our intuition that gathers all of those signals and messages and then delivers an understanding of how and what to do. The possibilities and depths of healing in body work like Lomilomi depends on the clarity, strength and quality of our foundation, our prayers and the application of the knowledge and wisdom being granted from the higher beings. Prayer is the communication to the source. When we communicate to them, it has to come from deep, deep within. It has to come from that deep inner place where our intuition resides.
Foundation in Lomi Lomi:
The foundation is laying into place our talents, our skills, our perceptions, our ability to perceive. This is the difference between someone that can give a really good massage and someone that's doing healing lomilomi body work. The foundation is key and needs to be in place.
Lomilomi is nothing without foundation. If the foundation isn't there, then it's just a really beautiful Hawaiian word that describes massage. Lomilomi is not a technique. Lomilomi is a relationship. Lomilomi is our ability to be guided by our ancestors, to move when they tell us to move, to dance in their footsteps.
